NPC Scotland says no to the SHEFC and SFEFC Merger

Today, NPC Scotland submitted a consultation response to the plans laid out by the Scottish Executive to harmonise further and higher education by merging the two funding councils, the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council (SHEFC) and the Scottish Further Education Funding Council (SFEFC). NPC Sees this as detrimental to the wellbeing of Scottish higher education and cannot agree with the idea that postgraduate education can fit into the title of "tertiary".

NPC Scotland is also highly concerned that under the Specified Tertiary Education Providers (STEPs) parameters they have to classify newer post 92 institutions differently to that of chartered and aincent Universities. NPC Scotland is concerned that this will surely have impact on the funding between older and newer Universities as well as increasing the divide.
