NATFHE/NUS/NPC Releases Employment Charter for Postgraduates who Teach

NPC has jointly produced an Employed Postgraduates Charter with the National Union of Students (NUS) and the National Association of Teachers in Further and Higher Education (NATFHE). This outlines the employment rights for postgraduates who teach in post 1992 institutions in England and Wales where staff are normally represented by NATFHE. It is hoped that institutions will be able to take this charter on board in order to allow postgraduates to benefit and gain professional development from their teaching responsibilities rather than endure the task with little support from academic members of staff.

The charter can be viewed here.

For those in pre 1992 institutions, NPC has already produced an Employment Charter for Postgraduates who Teach jointly with NUS and the Association of University Teachers (AUT), who normally represent staff in such instituions.

The charter can be viewed here.

NPC is also producing an employment charter for postgraduates in Scotland who come under the Educational Institute in Scotland (EIS) and it will be published in due course.
